Former Big Brother housemate Rebekah Shelton has sadly died at the age of 32.

Rebekah appeared in the 10th series of Big Brother back in 2009 and came fifth, reaching the final.

A statement, which was posted on her social media account, confirmed that she passed away on Wednesday night (January 10).
"We're sorry to inform everyone of the sad news that our wonderful and lovely Rebekah died unexpectedly on Wednesday night," the tweet read. "We ask that you respect the family's privacy at this time."

Rebekah featured in the same series as housemates including Siavash Sabbaghpour, David Ramsden, Lisa Wallace, and eventual winner Sophie Reade.

Tributes have been flooding in on social media.
"God, how awful! I'm so sorry," said one Twitter user. "I remember watching her on Big Brother a few years ago and I loved her personality. And she achieved so much through her transition."

A year ago, she went on Judge Rinder to settle a dispute with her friend Teena.

Rebekah decided that she wanted bigger breasts and was loaned £1,400 from Teena in order to correct a botched attempt at increasing her size, but at the time Teena had only received £600 back.
In 2014, Rebekah fell into a coma for a period of time after a brain tumour was discovered.
